Winter months are usually a good time for me, I feel much healthier considering that most of what I'm allergic to is either dead, hibernating, or simply in remission. For some reason, my body just refuses to stop reacting to things, and I've been suffering for the past month or so.
I can't believe I have to deal with allergies+ bad weather, when I can have my allergies and good weather just five months away. Times like this, I begin to long for those summer months.
So before I begin the 'Summer Wishes' playlists again, I'll just give you a taste of what's to come.
Here's Peanut Butter Wolf's remix of the Free Design's Umbrellas.
Matter of fact, this might just be my theme song.

Allo, again!
Summer's not here yet! So I can still add onto the playlist can I not?
Recently I was contacted via Last fm. by a lil group called Cof Cof, reminiscent of CSS with their own lil flare- especially since, you know, they're from a whole nother country, with a whole nother mother language-, I got addicted to this lil diddy called, 'Carribean Boy.'
And then, obviously segued into the Nazz.
Enjoy!

The summer concert bang has begun, and venues of all types are allowing music festivals of all kinds rock in their areas. I, hopefully, will be attending Rock the Bells, trying to avoid being spotted dancing to Spank Rock and the gang, but in the meantime, there's always something local.
My friend invited me to join her at our local Ice Cream store, as they've opened their cafe half to bands on the weekends. Every weeknight is open mic, but tonight, they were showcasing our local band, Hyphen.
The atmosphere of this Ice Cream Cafe/Venue, is similar to that of a Starbucks. There were couches, sofas, tables, and a lotta fake plants. A flat screen TV, some nice lil lamps, some candles even, and curtains and whatnot to privatize certain tables. It felt like someone's living room. I was pleasantly surprised that something so expensive and down to earth looking thing existed in my town.
I was proud!
But it got me thinking as to what other bands I would like to see there. Unplugged style, up close and personal.
Bands Like,
N.E.R.D.
'Cause I really wanna Spazz with them that close, so I can literally 'feel' the music. Can you imagine?
Thao with the Get Down, Stay Down
'Cause I really wanna see if she rocks that hard.
The Roots
(Yeah, for some reason, Universal has disabled embedding for all of the roots videos, and I don't have the patience to look for a way around their stoopid azz rules. So you'll just have to imagine.)
I don't think I need explain why.
'Cause I wanna feel that beauty. Their music is so darned pretty!
Ooh, and Bright Eyes!
And others who are not full bands, like
Santogold
and Danny!

Big L is hella underrated. Some say it's because before his death, he failed to make 'an anthem to be remembered by.'
I don't know what the hell that guy was talking about, because this is it. What more do you want?
That's the anthem, get your damn hands up!
RIP Big L,
Happy Memorial Day
UPDATE: 5-29-08
Ah, just saw this o'er at 2 Dope Boyz, the only reason I know of Big L is 'cause of DJ Soul, a fellow OKP who remixed a bunch of hip hop anthems -yeah, anthems- with Dilla's Donuts. So here's his version of Put It On, paired with Dilla's Geek Down.

It's about seventy or so degrees here, and I reminded myself to finish my lil' Summer Wishes playlist before summer got here. I told you I'd finish it, and well, I haven't. Partially because I get easily frustrated when my music files get uploaded as 'Videos', partially because I'm lazy. So here we go, Imma try to focus.
This song has an odd history with me. I heard every song but this one from Danny!'s album, The Charm. I learned the lyrics in like, a day, as I played it over and over again.
So yeah, I love this song.
As for Masta Ace, well, why would I deprive you of such dopeness?
So then there's the classic that I've known for what seems like forever, but only recently realized how dope it was while at a pep rally at (a certain university I'm not sure if I should name or not!) and they played this song. The whole crowd lit up, and girls all over were singing the opening lyrics. I was surprised. So obviously, if it was such an anthem to them, and such an anthem for the east coast, it deserved a spot. Here's 'My Boo' by the Ghost Town DJs.
Okay, originally I was gonna upload more. But I'm lazy, deal with it.
But if you have your own ideas for summer anthems, hit me up.
I'm outtie 5000
