I know I'm early, but I had to get this one down before I forget.
I admire the fact that he uses the correct verb, so many other rappers would've said ,'give a soda' or something, but he used 'vend.' Genius.
Thought I forgot, eh?
Nah, the truth is I had to find a lyric to write that I loved, I always try to force it, you know.
But I like to have it come to me.
Anyway,
-Big Daddy Kane, Ain't No Half Steppin'
I have to share this.
and the video...
I could say a bit, and give my reaction, but I'm pretty sure the music speaks for itself.
Beautiful, poignant and amazing, like all music should be.
"And if you reall ill at making music, the listener feel like he living through it..."-Black Thought
*sigh*
That is all.

It's about seventy or so degrees here, and I reminded myself to finish my lil' Summer Wishes playlist before summer got here. I told you I'd finish it, and well, I haven't. Partially because I get easily frustrated when my music files get uploaded as 'Videos', partially because I'm lazy. So here we go, Imma try to focus.
This song has an odd history with me. I heard every song but this one from Danny!'s album, The Charm. I learned the lyrics in like, a day, as I played it over and over again.
So yeah, I love this song.
As for Masta Ace, well, why would I deprive you of such dopeness?
So then there's the classic that I've known for what seems like forever, but only recently realized how dope it was while at a pep rally at (a certain university I'm not sure if I should name or not!) and they played this song. The whole crowd lit up, and girls all over were singing the opening lyrics. I was surprised. So obviously, if it was such an anthem to them, and such an anthem for the east coast, it deserved a spot. Here's 'My Boo' by the Ghost Town DJs.
Okay, originally I was gonna upload more. But I'm lazy, deal with it.
But if you have your own ideas for summer anthems, hit me up.

Stones Throw is the epitome of Underground Sounds. They were the label home of Jay Dee, and are the label home of some of my favorite artists, Aloe Blacc, Dudley Perkins, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Guilty Simpson, James Pants, Oh No, MF DOOM, Peanut Butter Wolf, and the ever so sexy Madlib and all of his incarnations (Jaylib, Yesterday's New Quintet, Quasimoto and Yesterday's Universe).
So a place breaming with such talent and creativity does not only excel in music (and exceptional videos), but fashion as well. And some brilliant packaging for albums.
Take, for example, Jay Dee's Ruff Draft.
This was to commemorate and celebrate the release of Ruff Draft. An album done on tape, and after Jay Dee's death, was released to much fanfare. I however, have never got the $40 bucks necessary to purchase it. And I don't know if you noticed, but I need that shirt. That tape cassette. And that album.
This was to commemorate the release of Jay Dee's Donuts. One of the best instrumental albums I've ever heard, and it's still banging t'day. Madlib's Beat Konducta series is still dope. So for the Madlib fans out there -I see you!-
MF DOOM, the masked one who somehow became best buddy to Adult Swim (hostin' Xmas specails? Fahreal, Doom?), is dope. He makes beats too. Dope, weird ones that nobody can rap over.
And finally, for those folks who have never heard of Stones Throw or who don't know a single artist in this list, just go for the Hella International shirt.
Or, on the back of this sweatshirt, there's a rollcall of their most famous artists.
and on this tee, for their 10th anniversary.
So uh, who wants to buy those for me?
Oh, and since you asked...

Here are some albums and artists that I don't really care that much about, just because of lack of interests or because I'm plain out of gas for that one artist. I don't think I'm missing much, so let me know?
Jay Electronica is boring. He's not the hip hop messiah (and yeah, I know he's endorsed something heavy like Barack Obama) but I do have some of his songs, and no, I'm not impressed. He's nowhere as near as intresting as B.o.B. or Mickey Factz (and yeah, you should already know I'm diggin' those guys, maybe he came a little too late?) So where does that leave me? Am I not listening hard enough? Am I missing something?
And I know, I know. I feel like Judas for adding them to my list, but honestly, ever since the Tipping Point, I completely lost interest in the Roots. They've been through some Malcolm X type changes, and I lost the want to keep up with them. I thought Phrenology was dope. They're the second most played artist in my Last.fm thingy, and the first artist added to my computer. With the most albums, might I add. But in the shuffle of Donuts, Magnificent City, Timeless, St. Elsewhere, Murray's Revenge, 5 Sparrows for 2 Cents, Corrine Bailey Rae, In My Mind, YoYoYoYoYo, The Shining, Afro Strut, Chrome Children, Somebody To Love, Expressions 2012 and Exodus Into Unheard Rhythms. I didn't have the time to figure out what exactly didn't feel right when so many New and Exciting songs and albums are coming at me from all directions.
So tell me, Am I Missing Something?
