But I might have to.
I mean, I have school!
I have important classes I need to pass!
And...
I'm so torn.
Look at this...
"Tue Sept 29- BLK JKS, LAUGHING MAN $10 Backstage 9:00"
I'm so hurt.
You already know how I feel about the BLK JKS, and Laughing Man I just started listening to; as a matter of fact, I'm listening to their song Gestures for the third time straight as I type this, and it's really amazing music.
And...
I'm just so depressed.
Can somebody rescue me from indecision!

The summer concert bang has begun, and venues of all types are allowing music festivals of all kinds rock in their areas. I, hopefully, will be attending Rock the Bells, trying to avoid being spotted dancing to Spank Rock and the gang, but in the meantime, there's always something local.
My friend invited me to join her at our local Ice Cream store, as they've opened their cafe half to bands on the weekends. Every weeknight is open mic, but tonight, they were showcasing our local band, Hyphen.
The atmosphere of this Ice Cream Cafe/Venue, is similar to that of a Starbucks. There were couches, sofas, tables, and a lotta fake plants. A flat screen TV, some nice lil lamps, some candles even, and curtains and whatnot to privatize certain tables. It felt like someone's living room. I was pleasantly surprised that something so expensive and down to earth looking thing existed in my town.
I was proud!
But it got me thinking as to what other bands I would like to see there. Unplugged style, up close and personal.
Bands Like,
N.E.R.D.
'Cause I really wanna Spazz with them that close, so I can literally 'feel' the music. Can you imagine?
Thao with the Get Down, Stay Down
'Cause I really wanna see if she rocks that hard.
The Roots
(Yeah, for some reason, Universal has disabled embedding for all of the roots videos, and I don't have the patience to look for a way around their stoopid azz rules. So you'll just have to imagine.)
I don't think I need explain why.
'Cause I wanna feel that beauty. Their music is so darned pretty!
Ooh, and Bright Eyes!
And others who are not full bands, like
Santogold
and Danny!

Wow, I'm thrilled! My internet is finally up and running, and I've got a chance to catch up on all the music downloads that've been flying left and right for the last few weeks.
For one, Mickey Factz keeps dropping new ish! And by new ish, I mean mixtapes, from Heaven's Fallout to Back to the Future...and he 'got Marty McFly kicks on!'
I'm not going to risk my bandwidth limit on those...but it's oh so tempting...
What else, I really wanna see the Glow in the Dark tour when it hits DC...or is it Virginia? Either or, need to be there!
And Rock the Bells!
What's a 16 year old got to do to get some tickets around here? And a travelin' buddy?
Sheesh.
Well, to tie you over before I can get my musical bloggin' mind up and running again, here's some music to clog your ears with.
G'night!

I really need to be better prepared, yo. I had the camera, the memory card... and no batteries.
Oh well.
That's what memories are for.
But you'll need a little extra help getting it, so I'll do my best relaying the story.
My father surprises me with tickets to the show, last night at the Black Cat in DC. I was apprehensive at first, as I've never been to that kind of venue, nor have I been to a concert to an artist I actually liked. Expectations are a muggfugg. But after two seconds of debating, I said yes, and to DC we went.
We met up with some family and friends I had all kind of hipped to Erro and Teedra, making our duo a quintet. After grabbing a bite to eat, we buy our tickets and wait in the Red Room Bar of the Black Cat.
We wait for a good chunk of the 9:00pm starting time, we're let in at around 9:30. We quickly scramble for chairs, as the venue is for standing. I was too afraid to grab a stool to sit on but my father shared, and we sat and listened to the DJ mix all kinds of rap classics with soulful beats for another half hour maybe. Then a smexy guitarist takes the stage and the rest of his bandmates follow.
FINALLY
They introduce Eric Roberson to the tune of Kanye West's 'Flashing Lights'. Eric sing/raps over it to thank the audience for showing up and being patient, and the show begins.
I'm not too well versed on Eric Roberson, simply because I'm picky with what I buy, and his stuff is hella expensive. I love you Erro, but I'll just listen to HoneySoul, EJ Flavors and Todd Kelley podcasts and whatnot to get my fix. That, and you're not available for Napster downloads so I can't even hear you that way.
But I digress.
Honisly, I loved his set. It was long, sometimes feeling too long in some spots, and for the unfamiliar I know it had to be boring. I loved how he would segue into different songs and make up things on the spot. Like how the guitarist went into N.E.R.D.'s Rockstar/ Posers cut, or how when performing his song, Pretty Girl, in homage to Jay Dee, he segued into SV's Fall In Love. I was treally feeling it to the point where I had to just close my eyes and sing, "Don't sell yourself to fall in lovvvveeee with those things you dooooooo."
That, and they rocked. Hard. It made me want to be a better saxophone player, just to see if I could pull of some impromptu songs. I'm not too sure what else I can say other than, I really, really enjoyed it.
When his set is over, he introduces Teedra Moses, who comes out in a white fur scarf and sparkly top. Once again, the band plays, "Flashing Lights" to introduce her and they went through a couple of tracks from her new, unreleased album, and her first album, Complex Simplicity.
Dear God, a woman behind us who I swear wasn't in the conscious state of mind was just screaming and dancing and stomping out of her mind! I swear, she is the reason why they shouldn't allow drinking at concerts.
Overall, Teedra was kinda disappointing. Like I said earlier, expectations are a muggfugg. Her set was a lot shorter than Erro's, and there was a lot less... um, how do I say, music. Erro had all kinds of instrumentation, and his songs were played well. Like they played the heck outta 'em. And while Teedra can sing, her's just didn't compare, to me.
She sung "Be Your Girl," then said, "Thank You DC!" and bounced.
My sister's jaw dropped and the place began to empty.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
My father picks up his coat when a figure rushes onstage. It's Raheem DeVaughn and I tell my father to look up. His jaw drops.
So Raheem explains that he just got in from a flight, and that he came to support his fellow artists. If you haven't heard, Raheem is from DC, so it was only right, that he take the stage for a bit. That same smexy guitarist comes on as well, and Erro's full band (known sometimes as, 'The Smoke Signals') comes to aid Raheem as they play Andre 3000's song, 'Prototype' as heard on Raheem DeVaughn's mixtape (that can partially be heard on HoneySoul's website!). He urges us to support real music (and buy something! Geez!) and then he leaves. The party was over, for real this time.
And all and all, it was worth it.
And Erro, I will buy one of those t-shirts, and all of your albums...eventually. I have to build my allowance up!

Oh, and get familiar.
Eric Roberson's myspace, official website link is there too.
Teedra Moses' myspace page, her official website is there too.
That smexy guitarist Curt Chambers. Bet you didn't think he would take it that far, what do you know?!
And finally, Raheem DeVaughn.
